Years ago, I got my start in publishing (see Active Listening Series below). As a young designer it laid a great foundation for attention to detail, art direction and working with type.
Recently I got the opportunity to "go home again" as they say. Working with these talented authors during the pandemic gave me a renewed thrill for book design as a whole.
Ingalls on the Prairie by R. Lee Ingalls
It is always so rewarding to help a friend achieve a dream. This friendly and candid memoir continues the legacy of Laura Ingalls Wilder by telling the story of another segment of the family.
I worked with the author on the design of both the interior and the cover.
Paperback and ePub available on the website or Amazon!
Die Fotographie by Phillip M. Johnson
with William Thomas Loesch III
This haunting and descriptive novel follows three young boys after they are rescued from Auschwitz. They grow up and reunite to right the wrongs done them.
I worked with the authors on the design of the interior and cover. I also copyedited and proofed the novel.
Paperback and ePub available on the website or Amazon!
Active Listening is grounded in the theory that learners are more successful listeners when they activate prior knowledge of a topic.
Each of these three-level listening series for high-beginning to intermediate adult and young-adult learners of North American English offers 16 engaging, task-based units, built around a topic, function, or grammatical theme.
The Student Books were accompanied by separate Teacher's Manuals and packaged audio components for each level.
